Do you ever anticipate hanging out with our friends after school only to end up eating at the same place like you do every time, like In-N-Out?  Well, if that’s the case, here are some amazing spots that can end in memories to look back on and Instagram-worthy pics that are close to the school.

De Longpre Park

Stop by a nearby convenience store to pick up goodies like candy, chips, and maybe even pizza and walk on over to De Longpre Park to plan a picnic. Located at the intersection of Cherokee Avenue and De Longpre Avenue, the park is a quick 10-minute walk from the school and is near the plaza on Sunset and Cherokee that has It’s Boba Time, 7-Eleven, and Pizza Hut. The park is also a favorite with pet owners in the neighborhood, so you’re bound to see some people walking their dogs. It also has a nice playground and towering trees, making it a scenic nature escape.

IHOP

If you don’t like spending money on overpriced snacks that don’t fill you up, you could go to IHOP for a nice, intimate meal. Located at 7006 Sunset Blvd., just down the street from the exit on Orange Avenue it provides a cozy place to grab a bite with friends.

Coffee shops

Doing anything with friends makes for a great time, so why not make it productive and get some food as well? If that sounds like you, there are many local cafes within walking distance. On Sunset Boulevard, there’s Javista Coffee, which has a hidden patio toward the back, making it a great place for group hangouts. Heading north toward Hollywood Boulevard, there’s Cafe De Leche in the Ovation Hollywood mall, a Starbucks on 6745 Hollywood Blvd., and the Capital One Cafe next to the train station at Hollywood and Highland. Cafes are great because you can get work done, grab a bite, and actually feel motivated.

Will & Ariel Durant Branch Library

If you are not really in the mood for food and still want to look cute and feel studious then you can always go to Will & Ariel Durant Branch Library, which is on 7140 Sunset Blvd., just a quick 10-minute walk from school. Libraries are always fun to go to if you want to look at books you and your friends are interested in, or look over material needed for assignments without spending a single dollar. You can stop by after-school to get materials printed as well, since the Los Angeles Public Library offers free printing in color, or use many of the free library resources.

Sunset & La Brea

This strip mall at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue is perfect for a quick shopping trip paired with an affordable bite to eat. Stop by Ross Dress for Less for discount prices on items from clothes to room decor. Then, you can grab a quick bite at 7-Eleven or Subway. If you want a sit-down option, try Tacos El Gavilan or Hollywood Sushi.

Amoeba Music

Further away, is a quick 10-minute subway ride on the corner of Hollywood and Argyle Avenue is the legendary Amoeba Music. Shop for records, books, and pins or take some pictures with your friends in the photo booth, you’re sure to make some memories and get some amazing feed worthy pictures.

Ovation Hollywood

If you want more of a “mall” vibe, where you can explore an abundance of stores and eateries, then the Ovation Hollywood is perfect. Housing well-known shopping establishments like Sephora, Hot Topic, and Footlocker, along with some notable new additions like Fashion Q, they have a shop for everything. You can grab a bite at the newly opened Hokey Pokey, a New Zealand based ice-cream shop, grab an acai bowl at Oakberry, enjoy affordable smash burgers at The Win~Dow Burgers, or enjoy some ramen at JINYA Ramen Express. If you’re looking for entertainment, you can watch a movie at the storied TLC Chinese Theater or enjoy some art and books at JAPAN HOUSE LA. Ovation also frequently hosts fun community events like movie screenings.

Amusements

If amusement is more your lane then the World of Illusions on 6751 Hollywood Blvd., can definitely bring fun after a long day of working on boring assignments, or if you would rather sit back and relax and eat snacks then you will enjoy going to El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard which, as a bonus is almost never crowded.

Thankfully our school is close to many shops so if you have a couple of bucks, friends, and hopes, then you can create memories anywhere.
