Rapidly growing fast-food chain Raising Cane’s has recently begun construction right across from school on Sunset Boulevard, replacing the Hart House that closed down last year.
Founded in 1996, Raising Cane’s is a fast food restaurant specializing in chicken fingers that began gaining major traction within the past decade. Since then, it has grown at an exponential pace, opening an average of 100 restaurants yearly. Millions of people across the country cite their love of the restaurant’s chicken fingers, fries, and their signature Cane’s sauce as their draw to the establishment. All this popularity has landed the chain at the corner of Sunset and Highland, a block away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Students at school first noticed the start of construction at the previously closed down Hart House across the street a couple months back.
“I thought they were just going to tear down the building,” said SAS junior Abraham Reyes.
Rumors were finally put to rest when a poster with the Raising Cane’s logo was placed on the fence surrounding the building.
“It’s a smart decision,” said SAS junior Justin Cabrera, “With other restaurants like Chick-fil-A, In-N-Out, and McDonald’s in the surrounding area getting many student customers, Raising Cane’s opening a restaurant is going to get tons of attention from students.”
Some consider the placement of this Raising Cane’s as very intentional, with Chick-fil-A, another major fast-food chicken spot, located right across the street. Many people at school may have never tried Raising Canes, as many of its locations are in the suburbs of Los Angeles rather than the city center. But now, with it now being the new competitor on Sunset, people may take the chance on something new over the classic restaurants in the area that have been around for years.
Raising Cane’s officially opens on Nov. 4, with a grand opening featuring performances from the school’s cheer and band teams, as well as giveaway opportunities.
